The splitter is nice and works well. I have already split sweet gum that is larger then they rate this unit can handle. Lots of power, would say it is under rated on power. The packaging is awful. Amazon had to ship me 2 units and I still had to take parts from the first one to fix the second one with the manufacturer sending one small part via mail - excellent response from the manufacturer. Makes me feel good about warranty service. The units both came shipped in light weight boxes with a few pieces of Styrofoam - nowhere near the box quality or the packing material needed for this weight unit. This would have rated a full 5 stars except for the packaging - the packaging gets a 0 - this gives an average of 3. I hope that Amazon and whoever else is involved in the packaging can get the boxes improved - this is too good of a product to be a problem due to the boxing!

The log splitter works very well. it needs to be mounted on the recomended stand,to low to operate. the wheel's need to be at least 2" larger for ease of mobility on rough groumd. the packing should be stronger than foam.the weight 97-lbs is to much for this type of packing.

This log splitter arrived in a totally destroyed box, light box, heavy tool with to packing support. The log splitter cycled one time with a 10" straight grain citrus wood log. It split it then never would cycle, only turn on and then pop the reset button on the power panel. Don't waste your time. I went and bought a 7 ton splitter at a local tool store and now very satisfied and only spent $60.00 more than this 4 ton.

This was the first time I have ever used a electric model===IT was great!!!. I was able to split all the wood I needed using it inside my garage with no worry about gas fumes and bad weather.It would be a great idea if you also bought the stand that is made for it--- which I did!!. I was able to split logs that were about 12 inches around with no problems.I should have bought this splitter and stand ALONG time ago!!!
