This propane-powered tool helps keep your yard--and the environment--pristine.
    Tackles Big Jobs with Ease
The Eco Trimmer includes a 25-cc, 1-hp, 4-stroke engine, so you can easily power through your gardening chores. The 17-inch cutting swath, bump feed head, and .080-inch-diameter line mean this trimmer can handle whatever you throw at it. What's more, the detachable curved shaft, ergonomic controls, D-handle with guard, shoulder strap, quick-release coupling, and included took kit make the Eco Trimmer simple and comfortable to use.

Propane-Powered Eco Trimmer with Detachable Straight ShaftTwist and Go Fueling
Powered by an easy-to-use 16.4-ounce propane canister that snaps into place, the Eco Trimmer starts quickly--simply Twist 'n Go. Its patented propane-fueled technology eliminates the need for mixing gas and oil and requires no choking or priming to start. For further convenience, propane canisters are widely available, and a single canister provides two full hours of run time.

This clever trimmer also cuts out the need for the winterizing, carburetor gum-up, and choking commonly associated with gas-powered models. With an engine that starts faster and runs cleaner, maintaining your lawn won't be the hassle it once was.

    Low Fuel and Maintenance Costs
The Propane-Powered Eco Trimmer boasts low fuel and maintenance costs. Standard 16.4-ounce propane canisters are economical and readily available at most hardware stores, sporting goods stores, drug stores, and other locations where lawn and garden products are sold. You'll cut down on expensive trips to the gas station and eliminate the risks associated with storing gasoline near or in your home. An added bonus, the steel propane canisters are 100% recyclable when empty.

To further cut costs, this durable trimmer is incredibly easy to maintain. It's backed by a three-year limited carburetor warranty and a two-year limited manufacturer's warranty.

LEHR - Propane-Powered Eco Trimmer with Detachable Curved ShaftEnvironmentally Friendly and EPA Approved
Winner of the EPA Clean Air Excellence Award, the Eco Trimmer exceeds 2011 EPA emission standards meant to reduce lawn equipment pollutants. When compared side by side with gasoline, propane is clearly the smarter choice. Propane not only helps keep harmful pollutants out of the air, but it is less expensive than gasoline, so it also helps keep your money in your pocket. What's more, 85% of propane used in the United States is produced domestically, which means propane-powered tools can help eliminate dependence on foreign oil and can help cut down on the waste associated with fuel spills.

In addition, propane contains no evaporative emissions and zero ozone-depleting hydrocarbons. It is a nontoxic substance that won't pollute ground water or soil, and it includes 97% fewer particulates and 96% fewer carcinogens than gasoline. A cleaner and greener alternative to traditional fuel, propane power is a great choice for your garden.

Summary: Slightly heavy, but solid construction, great workhorse
    Comment:
I have had the pleasure of using this wonderful trimmer on more occasions than I would like thanks to a great rainy season here in Texas. I am still on my first propane tank, purchased at around $2. Starting this trimmer, which I've always hated on my regular gasoline models is a breeze. While it tends to take 6-10 pulls if it's been sitting in the garage for a couple weeks, I'm still happy because half the time I could never start my old trimmer and gave up out of frustration. Once the unit has been running for about three minutes, it only takes a single pull to restart the motor. I've even gotten handy at pulling the string while still holding it.

My only complaint, which I'm not sure even qualifies as a complaint is that the trimmer is solidly built. Nothing feels loose on it. But that comes at a cost. The weight is a lot heavier than I was expecting. The shoulder strap (not shown in the picture, but included nonetheless) helps alleviate this, but still, my arms ache after doing the front and back yards in a single day. There's also an acrid, almost burning plastic smell to the exhaust, but this is just the usual when burning propane. It takes some getting used to, but it's still way better for the environment.

The only greener method, depending on your power supply, is corded electric, but I prefer the freedom. My next big purchase is going to be one of their self-propelled lawn mowers because my battery operated one is falling apart due to the unique layout and slope of my yards.

Oh, and I had an electric Ryobi trimmer which had a bunch of accessory attachments that work perfectly on this trimmer, so it's like having 6 different power yard tools in one.

    Summary: Displeased with trimmer
    Comment:
I have owned two of these trimmers. The first was the Lehr and the second was a Craftsman /Lehr. The first one, they said couldn't be fixed. The second one has been repaired twice in 2 months. Both times it either wouldn't start or wouldn't stay running. I thought I would like the way the string is attached but having to change it every 10-15 minutes is a bit much. I purchased the $15 roll of black twisted string and made my own short trimming lines. The stringer is heavy but has plenty of power. If it fails me once more I will be giving it back for a refund.

    Summary: Good Trimmer
    Comment:
Bought this trimmer through Amazon in June 2010. I have over one acre of land with 30 trees and bushes and garden boxes, too. I have used this trimmer several times now, and I love it! I was grateful for previous reviews that cautioned about adding the oil into the engine. I also learned that the machine does not like being tipped very far from its normal upright angle, otherwise oil does leak out.

I did notice an odor of hot plastic the first few times I used it, but I think that was break-in odors combined with the smell of the propane exhaust.

If you are a commercial landscaper you may not want this since it is not quite as powerful as the 2-stroke varieties, but I am so grateful to not have to mix gas and oil anymore nor do I have to worry about emptying the gas tank after every use for fear of destroying the 2-stroke engine. My son and daughter even commented on how it is quieter than our old 2-stroke trimmers were.

FWIW, I stared off with a partial propane canister and I was able to get 4-5 trimmings out of it -- not sure how many hours that would be (I was focused on getting the job done and out of our AZ heat each time) but I am quite satisfied.

Summary: Does not work over 5000ft!
    Comment:
I ordered this trimmer hoping that I can replace my under powered electric one that I have had for years. After assembling the trimmer, putting the oil in it, and attaching the propane, I was off to test it out. I was able to get it started within a few pulls but the moment I throtled it, it would stall. I called the support number and they were knowledgeable but very unprofessional. I was told the reason it stalled was because I was WAY above sea-level and needed to move the ignition pin. After being on the phone for about 30 minutes we were able to get the trimmer to work at top speed but it now would not idle. I was told "You chose to live in Colorado, not Lehr" and that in order to use it I would have to carry it around at full throtle or restart it when I got to where I was going. I claimded that that was not acceptable and can be dangerous. Lehr support told me that it is not dangerous or uncommon to walk around with the trimmer at full speed, and stated again that it was MY FAULT for living in Colorado and they can't accomodate EVERYONE! Crappy customer support, crappy product. Needless to say that same day it was shipped back to Amazon. Do not purchase this trimmer if you live about 5000 ft because it will not work. Also to add, the support rep said that he has been to Colorado before and would NEVER decide to live there and didn't know what the appeal was. Way to slam your customers home state!

    Comment:
Worked great out of the box. Always seems to start, but not until the 5th pull. Having some trouble with the string auto feed, but do not let this be a deterrent to purchase. I own both the Lehr and the craftsman models and use the attachments on both
